Texas Worker Sues 35 Companies for Asbestos Exposure
Freeman Eugene Peart worked for many years as a welder, pipefitter, and boilermaker and, during the course of his employment, was exposed to numerous asbestos-based products. At some point during his employment, Mr. Peart inhaled the aerosolized asbestos fibers that ultimately caused the cancer that killed him.
In search of justice for their family member, Mr. Peart's family filed suit in a state court in Beaumont, Texas, recently. In their wrongful death suit, the Peart family argues that American Optical, one of Mr. Peart's former employers, and 34 other entities are responsible for manufacturing, selling or using asbestos or failing to warn Mr. Peart about the risks of the asbestos that took Mr. Peart's life. The Peart family seeks exemplary as well as actual damages for the injuries Mr. Peart sustained.
