EPA Orders Termination of Demolition Due to Asbestos
In Pennsylvania, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ordered the owner of an abandoned lampshade factory in Old Forge, a suburb of Scranton, to cease his demolition efforts. According to the Scranton Times Tribune, the long-defunct factory has been on the radar of the EPA and state officials because of improper asbestos removal. In order to proceed with demolition, the EPA will now require building's owner, Walter Stocki, Jr., to submit a work plan and post warning signs around the building.
