What is Asbestos?

"Asbestos" is a generic name for six naturally occurring minerals used in literally thousands of commercial products. It refers to mineral-based commercial material that has high tensile strength, flexibility, resistance to chemical and thermal degradation, and electrical resistance. Because of these valuable characteristics, asbestos has been used in a wide variety of products including insulation, fireproofing materials, automotive brakes, insulation, textile products, and cement and wallboard materials.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has recommended medical practices for employers whose employees regularly contact asbestos. Their recommendations call for monitoring and measurement procedures, personal protective equipment, sanitation, emergency first aid procedures, spills and leaks, waste removal and disposal, and respiratory protection. If you'd like to know more about these recommended practices, go here. If your employer isn't following these practices, give Fears | Nachawati a call. We're the asbestos experts ready to fight for the workplace safety that you deserve. For a free consultation, call us toll free at 1.866.705.7584 or send us an email, info@fnlawfirm.com.
